GES Announces November 16 Payment Date for Outstanding 2025 Teacher Promotion Arrears

27 Oct 2026 Education

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced November 16, 2026, as the target date for paying outstanding promotion salary arrears owed to affected staff, following renewed efforts to resolve delays in the payment process.

In a letter dated October 27, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors, GES Management said it was working with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to ensure that staff who have yet to receive their 2025 promotion arrears are paid.

The announcement is expected to provide further clarity for teachers and other affected staff who have been waiting for their outstanding payments.

According to the letter, the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department’s payment system had been closed for the processing of October salaries at a time when additional inputs were expected.

GES explained that the system would reopen on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, to allow the necessary inputs to be made and facilitate payment to affected staff by November 16.

The reopening is expected to provide an opportunity for outstanding cases to be processed in collaboration with the relevant authorities.

GES Management also assured affected staff that discrepancies identified in the promotion arrears payments made on October 16, 2026, would be corrected accordingly.

The assurance comes as some staff continue to seek clarification and resolution of issues relating to their promotion salary arrears.

The Service said efforts were being made to address the outstanding cases and expressed regret over the delays and inconvenience caused.

Based on the GES announcement:

  • October 28, 2026: The CAGD payment system is scheduled to reopen for the necessary inputs.
  • November 16, 2026: The target date for payment of outstanding 2025 promotion arrears.
  • Outstanding discrepancies: Issues identified in the October 16 payments are expected to be rectified.

Affected staff should continue to follow official communications from GES and the relevant regional offices for further updates.

Although the announcement sets a target date, the actual processing and payment of individual cases will depend on the necessary inputs being made and the outstanding issues being resolved.
